What are All-On–4 restorations?

At the Clock Tower Dental practice, in Franklin Square, we call it Smile in a Day but in the professional dental community, it is known as the All-On-4 treatment concept. But, what is the All-On-4 treatment, and where did it start?

All-On-4 is a dental implant treatment that was developed and perfected in 1998 by Dr. Paulo Malo. It involves replacing all of your upper or lower teeth with four dental implants and a full arch restoration.

How does All-On-4 restoration work?

All-On-4 restorations are a type of restoration that is used when all of the patient’s teeth can’t be saved. Instead, the dentist places four titanium implants into the jawbone. The dentist places a provisional restoration and abutments on these titanium implants. Then 6 months later a final set of teeth are fabricated. These sets of teeth are designed to mimic natural teeth’ size, shape, and position, resulting in a beautiful smile.

What are the benefits of All-On-4 restoration?

All-On-4 restorations that are placed in the jawbone and gums offer a quick way to replace all the missing teeth. With All-On-4 restoration surgery, there is no need for sinus lifts. This is a major benefit of the procedure. The implants used in this type of restoration are typically made from titanium and are shaped like screws or cylinders. These implants are inserted into the jawbone so they can hold up your All-On-4 restoration securely.
